Quiet Flow
During the first two years of the pandemic, I found myself confined to a city-centre apartment. The constant wail of ambulance sirens echoed through the streets, deepening my sense of claustrophobia and unease. Long before the lockdown ended, I had already lost interest in photographing the bustling, anonymous crowds of the city. Instead, I began to crave the calm of nature, the simplicity of open spaces.
Once restrictions lifted, I was drawn to the small villages, quiet forests, and peaceful parks not far from my hectic hometown in the south of France. In these tranquil places, I immersed myself in the slow, deliberate process of capturing my surroundings. I became acutely aware of the flora and the shifting rhythms of the seasons.
Since then, I’ve been quietly gathering images, savouring the rhythm of this work. Each shot comes together slowly, and there is a deep satisfaction in this unhurried flow … the joy of being fully present in the moment, where the act of creation becomes as meaningful as the images themselves. It’s a return to something softer, slower … a feeling of being deeply connected to both the process and the landscape.
