“Flora” was inspired by John Wyndham’s 1951 post-apocalyptic novel, “The Day of the Triffids”. The carnivorous triffids were the consequence of genetic meddling and of human beings’ thoughtless and arrogant destruction of nature. “The Day of the Triffids” questions the relative values of a civilisation that has been lost as it considers the literally blind terror of humanity in the face of dominant nature. It is a story that sadly reminds me of the current Covid-19 health crisis.
The 11x15 cm books were made during the first Covid-19 lockdown.
